Past 11pm, I was driving on Campus Drive towards Jamboree. A Scion in front of me swerves, jumps the curb, and drives five meters on the island—directly into a lamp post. I stopped next to her, helped her out of her car and took her keys out of the ignition.

She was hopeless and obviously just went through something traumatic before the car accident. She smelled of alcohol and looked like she was crying. She was disrespectful and uncooperative and isolated herself from me and the man who tried to help her. I told her she’d be all right and she said “I won’t, but thanks for the compassion. You can go on with your life and worry about it. Don’t worry about mine.”

But I am. I worry that no one is praying for her or praying with her.
