Help me forgive myself

Rebuild me to shelter Your name

Within my secrets, Jesus, there you reside
And I need you to reconcile, to renew all that’s inside
For if I want to love You
Then with Your Love, Jesus,
I must love myself humbly, too

Lord, you are the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Alpha and Omega. You are love. You are mercy. You are compassion. You are patient. You are humble. You are meek.  You are my rock. You are my salvation.  Only You know the time and the place and the reasons for all things to occur.  You are all that I am not and I will never understand how You could ever consider me worthy of You.

I am sorry for ever doubting Your love, for taking advantage of Your mercy and ignoring Your plans for me.  Forgive me for dedicating the year of 2012 to be mine, when, from the beginning, I should’ve declared it Yours.  I am sorry for my pride.

Thank You for this weekend; thanks for truly breaking me down from the inside out so that my mind, heart, and soul can begin to heal from all my self-inflicted pain and suffering. Thank You for instilling fear; not the fear of evil, for You have already conquered all, but the fear that I will never be able to find myself in You.  Thank You for pushing me to pray with much more conviction, fervent desire, and willingness to love the way You do.  Thank You for this cross and for preparing me to embark on the upcoming Lenten journey.

I know I need not ask you to protect my brothers and sisters from all the evil that prowl throughout the world; I know that your army of angels and saints will defend us in battle.  But Lord, please help us find peace in the midst of chaos; help us find You within our respectable communities.  Give us the grace, the wisdom and the strength to lift our hearts to You because whether they are broken or whole, with or without fear, happy or sad—our hearts will remain restless until it rests in You.  For it is only through You, with You and in You, with the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary and all the angels and saints, will we find peace.
